Rider Rules and Qualification for the 2010 New York State Series
The New York State Series is open to all NBL licensed riders.
Rules:
- All riders must show proof of NBL membership, i.e., license, copy of license, copy of application or renewal.
- All riders will be verified with the NBL office.
- No points will be awarded if the rider is riding out of proficiency level if NBL has not issued a new card or received application before the day of the race.
Qualifications:
- ALL RIDERS MUST RACE 5 (FIVE) LOCAL SINGLE POINT RACES - AND - 4 (FOUR) NYS QUALIFIERS TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RACE THE NYS CHAMPIONSHIP RACE. If a rider chooses to race more, then their BEST five locals AND their BEST five qualifiers will be counted. The 5 local races will not be pointed – you will be pointed on qualifiers only.
The Bob Warnicke race can and will be used as a single point local race.
- Local Single Point Races will be used through August 31st, 2010, No local Single Point Races after August 31st, 2010 will be accepted for qualification to the Championship
- All riders that meet the aforementioned criteria will qualify for a state plate and qualify for the Presidents Cup Race. (Note: Only the top 15 riders in a class will Qualify for the Presidents Cup Race)
- Riders must ride his or hers age and proficiency level the day of the championship race. (Note: There is no longer a freeze date for proficiency in the State Series)
Registrations:
- Registration for the Qualifiers will be at the track the day of the race. (Please check the 2010 schedule for times and dates.)
- Championship Pre registrations are encouraged and are to be mailed and postmarked no later than September 3rd, 2010. NOTE: Make all checks payable to EMPIRE BMX
- All Pre Registration and Post registrations must be accompanied with a copy of your NBL License or a copy of a dated application for membership.
- A Pre-Registration form for the Championship can be found on the NYBMX.ORG web site
- Registration for the Championship will be 8:00am – 10:00am, gate to drop at 11:00am
(Note: No Phone in registrations will be allowed)
- All open classes at the championship will register the day of the event
Entry Fees for qualifiers/championship
- Entry Fees will only be accepted by means of a Bank Check, Money Order, or Cash
(Please note: No personal checks will be accepted for any entry fees at either the state qualifiers or the championship race)
- Qualifiers will be as follows:
$20.00 for the following classes (Expert, Novice, Girls, Cruiser, and Rookies).
- Championship will be as follows:
$40.00 for all registrations. (Expert, Novice, Girls, Cruiser, and Rookies).
Number Plates
- Any rider competing in the state series may display an of the following number plates: (An assigned NBL #, World #, State #, Regional #, National #, or US Open #) no Leap Plates will be allowed
- The numbers displayed on the designated plate must be a minimum of 3 inch in height or larger, and be legible; all must be free of stickers.
- It is the sole responsibility of the rider and or parent to confirm that before the event starts that the number displayed on the bike is the same number that the rider has registered with. (Note: All registered information should and shall be verified when the Moto’s have been posted, any discrepancies found should be corrected before the first gate drops)
Points
- Local Races are: Single Points only
Qualifiers are: Double Points
Championship: Triple Points
Bob Warnicke: Quadruple Points
(Note: Points will be awarded according to NBL rules Chapter 7 section D)
- All Point Protests prior to September 1st, 2009 will be turned back to the local Track Clerk for research and corrections, after this process the following process will be followed: You must submit in writing to the State Commissioner and include the race locations and dates of such protests, any information not included in the written protest will not be recognized. (Note: All protests must be post marked no later then September 3rd, 2010)
- Final Points will be on the web site no later than September 3rd, 2010 (NOTE: The clerk will not be tracking move up’s)
Tie Breakers
- Tie Breakers with no main at the championship will be determined by the last moto finish at the championship
- Tie Breakers with mains at the championship will be determined by the last moto finish at the championship
Awards
- All riders that place 1st through 8th at the qualifiers will receive the state award of the day
- All riders that place 1st through 8th at the championship will receive the state award for the series
- Any rider that does not finish between 1st through 8th will receive a participation award at both the qualifiers and or the championship events
- All qualified riders in each group (Rookies, Novice, Expert, Cruiser, and Girls) will be issued a state plate indicated the place where they finished in the state series; all plates will be issued at the championship event.
- All riders earning a plate number from 1st through 15th will be eligible and invited to participate at the Presidents Cup to represent The State of New York. (Location to be announced at a later date)
Refunds
- Any rider that chooses to withdraw from any Qualifier Race or the Championship can expect to get a 100% refund of their registration fee.
- Registrants that have registered to race at a Qualifier can expect a 100% refund if the said event is cancelled do to whether related condition. (Note: Race fee’s will not be allowed to be rolled over to another qualifier)
- Registrants that have registered to race at a Qualifier will not receive a refund of any amount if the said event has completed two full rotations of moto’s for that event.
- There will be no refund for pre-registrations for the championship event, if the event is cancelled due to weather related conditions, the event will be rescheduled and or relocated to another time.
Proficiency Upgrades
- All riders that experience a proficiency or upgrade must simply take his/her points with him/her and races whatever he/she is on the day of the race.
- There will be no freeze date for the state series and it is the riders and or parents responsibility to notify the State Commissioner and Track Clerk of any proficiency updates. If this procedure is not followed, the rider will lose any and all points received out of incorrect proficiency.
- All riders and or parents must indicate change of proficiency on all state qualifier and championship registration forms.
Combining Riders
- Will be done according to the NBL rules outlined in Chapter 6
Rider Conduct
- Riders that use profound language and or behave in a manner less then professional and courteous will be given two verbal warnings from the state commissioner for his or her behavior. Each warning will have a complaint document outlining the events were the complaint was generated and be signed by the person that files the complaint; each complaint will be filed for record purposes. Upon a third complaint the rider will be disqualified for the event at which the third complaint is generated.
Safety
- All riders that participate in the NY State series (qualifiers/championship) must have there shirts/jerseys tucked in during the practice time and prior to the drop of the gate for there perspective moto
- All riders that participate in the NY State series (qualifiers/championship) must have there helmets strapped during the practice time and prior to the drop of the gate for there perspective moto
- All riders/parents that choose to equip themselves or children with clip pedals must be sure that they are correctly adjusted so that in the event of an accident the rider will be able to pop out, to eliminate possible injury to the rider.
Please Note there should be no misinterpretation or deviation of the aforementioned safety requirements, any questions or concerns should be brought to the attention of the state commissioner. These requirements are being imposed for the overall safety of the rider.
